Pixel grids and Illustrator

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]PixelGridEvery now and then, you run into a technical issue that you just can’t figure out. Here is one that has been conquered. Take that, Illustrator! Sometimes, when trying to move an object incrementally a point or two, it jumps up beyond where you want it to go, almost as if it’s sticking itself to the grid. So you check to see if “snap to grid” is selected, an obvious first step. But when you check your settings, you find that option isn’t clicked.

Turns out there’s another place where snapping occurs. It’s in the transform palette. There are two boxes at the bottom of the palette, “scale strokes and effects” and “align to pixel grid.” Uncheck that second box. And just to be sure, go the fly-out menu and deselect “align new objects to pixel grid,” too.

Win.
